Policy Experiences Dialogue

PSDIRAQ organized a series of engaging dialogue sessions titled “Practical Experiences in Public Policy” with fellow participants of the Iraq Policy Program from various Iraqi provinces. The sessions aimed to enrich discussions with researchers and policy experts, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities in implementing policies within the Iraqi policy-making context.

The inaugural session focused on the elections affairs, led by Dr. Abdul Aziz Elewi, an elections affairs specialist, who led an insightful discussion on the topic of electoral experiences. The session facilitated by Dr. Hamid Rahim from the Platform Researchers Network.

Following the success of the first session, the second session revolved around the empowerment of women, in the presence of Dr. Bushra Al-Zwaini, a former minister and advisor on women’s affairs. The discussion facilitated by Mr. Hashim Al-Husseini, director of research department.

The third dialogue session centered on peace-building experiences, led by Dr. Saad Saloum, an expert in the field. The engaging discussion facilitated by Mr. Raafat Al-Baldawi,director of policy.

The fourth session saw the distinguished presence of Dr. Haider Abdul Hameed, a member of the Supreme Water Committee, and focused on confronting climate change challenges. Ms. Rana Sadeq, a graduate of the second cohort of the Iraq Policy Program, expertly facilitated the conversation.

The fifth and final session revolved around experiences in the private sector, with the expertise of Dr. Salam Jabbar. Mr. Mohammed Tareq, a graduate of the second cohort of the Iraq Policy Program, facilitated the discussion.

These dialogue sessions provided a platform for participants from diverse Iraqi provinces to share their policy papers, discussing the prospects and challenges of policy implementation in the Iraqi policy-making landscape.
